Ore Taekwondo (TN35): Learning a new skill is always rewarding and the martial arts are a popular choice these days. Taking up something like Taekwondo enables you to build your confidence, learn some self-defence techniques, develop your mind and body and enhance your self-respect. This more modern martial art has quickly grown in popularity since being developed in the 1940's in Korea.

It needs to be said that Taekwondo can be fairly physically challenging, which could intimidate the less agile and more elderly people in Ore from taking this up. To be honest, the most frequent people participating in Taekwondo classes are kids and the younger generation, but unquestionably older individuals who are in good physical health can easily take part and benefit from this activity.
Taekwondo is one of the more recently introduced of the martial arts, with its beginnings in Korea, South-East Asia in 1945. A number of Korean martial arts specialists in Seoul established some schools known as "kwans", merging various martial arts techniques. Taekwondo, which it eventually became known as, mostly involves kicking manoeuvres, especially fast kicking styles, head kicks and spinning/jumping kicks.

Taekwondo has become very popular in Ore and all around the world, with more than sixty million participants worldwide. Enrolling in a local Ore Taekwondo club or class is a good way to become involved with this activity which has even been a part of the Olympic Games since the Sydney Games in 2000. Although you might not aspire to Olympic competition, there is certainly no reason why you cannot become a master of this remarkable martial art and have a bit of fun along the way.
The thing about Taekwondo that appears to most interest people in Ore is the self-defence element of it. This is not difficult to believe when you take into account the high levels of violence witnessed in town and city centres day after day. Learning to defend yourself whilst respecting others and exercising self-restraint is a key benefit of Taekwondo.
There is a very good likelihood that your newly mastered Taekwondo skills will never see the light of day in the outside world, but it will undoubtedly give you self-confidence knowing that they're there should you ever need them.

Taekwondo Forms
Forms are a key element of Taekwondo and are essential if you're to master this fascinating activity. Several basic forms have to be learned at the beginning and more elaborate forms must be perfected in order to move through the various belts. A Taekwondo form is distinguished by various variables such as stance, technique and direction.
Taekwondo Belts
Since there are various different disciplines of Taekwondo there has never been any recognised arrangement for assigning belts (grades). What does exist however is pretty similar and involves two belt groupings "senior" and "junior" (black and colour), each one of these groups is split into levels, eight to twelve colours for juniors and nine "blacks" for seniors.

Ranks in Taekwondo in the UK are depicted by what are called "Kup". The highest rank is 1st Kup and the lowest rank (beginners) is 10th Kup. As with most of the martial arts, the Taekwondo belt order is indicated by a number of colours, so that the ranks are easily identified. These colours are white, yellow, green, blue and red, with transitional belts with stripes in-between, namely - white with a yellow stripe, yellow with a green stripe, green with a blue stripe, blue with a red stripe and red with a black stripe. Students in Ore getting started in Taekwondo will begin with the 10th Kup (White Belt), and proceed through the coloured belts until they attain the Red Belt With a Black Stripe (1st Kup).
After this has been completed, Taekwondo students in Ore are considered as "black belt candidates" which sees them moving through another nine ranks (Dans) right up until they achieve the ultimate distinction of "Black Belt". Therefore, Junior Belt, Senior Belt and Black Belt are the 3 principal classifications in the Taekwondo belt order in the UK. The Junior group of Taekwondo Belts are; White (Tenth), White With a Yellow Stripe (Ninth), Yellow (Eighth), and Yellow With a Green Stripe (Seventh). The Senior division of Taekwondo Belts are; Green (Sixth), Green With a Blue Stripe (Fifth), Blue (Fourth), Blue With a Red Stripe (Third), Red (Second), and Red With a Black Stripe (First). The Black division of Taekwondo Belts comprise First to Ninth Dan rankings, and demands many years of dedicated training.
